Part Three’ Imax 70MM Shows Are Already Selling Out

Dune: Part Three doesn’t open until Dec. 18, but Warner Bros is reporting that 70MM Imax shows are already selling out for the Denis Villeneuve directed threequel in both North America and London.

Essentially, we understand that the Imax 70MM shows that were sold out are during opening weekend (Thursday-Sunday), one show a day at 19 Imax locations. More tickets will be going on sale soon for the Legedary-Warner Bros co-production.

For anyone wondering if Dune: Part Three was going to move off its release date due to going nose-to-nose with Disney/Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday, well, no, especially with this type of advance sales result.

For the first time in the franchise’s history, Dune: Part Three was shot with IMAX film cameras.

Beamed Warner Bros President of Global Distribution, Jeff Goldstein, “This incredible result is proof that the fans’ anticipation to experience Dune: Part Three as it was meant to be—on the biggest, boldest screens possible—is at a fever pitch.  Once again, Denis Villeneuve has crafted an unmissable cinematic experience for audiences, whether they are fans of the first two films, or will be discovering this world for the first time.  We congratulate Denis and our partners at Legendary and Imax on this exciting outcome and look forward to sharing Dune: Part Three with moviegoers everywhere.”

Villeneuve co-wrote Dune: Part Three with Brian K. Vaughan based on the novel Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert. The pic stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Isaach De Bankolé, with Charlotte Rampling, with Anya Taylor-Joy, and Robert Pattinson, and Javier Bardem.

Universal and Imax did a presales stunt last summer for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, putting tickets on sale a year in advance of its opening weekend for 70MM Imax shows (Thursday, July 16th – Sunday, July 19th, 2026) with several selling out in 12 hours.
