Andrew Garfield Movie ‘The Uprising’ Gets Fall 2026 Release


Focus Features has set a Sept 11 release for the Paul Greengrass directed, Andrew Garfield starring The Uprising, which follows the untold true story of a ferocious rebellion against the tyranny of King Richard II.

As war burns across England, an army of commoners rises to face the King’s might in a fight for justice and survival, led by Garfield’s protagonist.

Greengrass wrote the screenplay. Jason Blum is producing through Blumhouse, alongside Gregory Goodman, Joanna Kaye and Greengrass. Lars Sylvest will also produce through Thank You Pictures and Joe Neurauter will produce through Supernix.

The movie also stars Jamie Bell, Stephen Dillane, Tom Hollander, Cosmo Jarvis, Thomasin McKenzie, Jonny Lee Miller, Woody Norman, and Katherine Waterston. 

The Uprising will in the post Labor Day corridor against Warner Bros’ Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman sequel, A Practical Magic as well as an untitled NEON limited release.

On deck for Focus this year is Robet Eggers’ Werwulf on Christmas Day; Curry Barker’s horror romance Obsession on May 15, Georgia Oakley’s fresh take on Jane Austen’s Sense and SensibilityPressure from Anthony Maras; and Hayley Kiyoko’s feature film debut, Girls Like Girls. Recent Focus documentaries include The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist from Academy Award-winning director Daniel Roher, and Charlie Tyrell and Morgan Neville’s Lorne about Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels.
